Jonathan Kellerman

Bio

Faye and Jonathan Kellerman

Jonathan Kellerman was born on August 9, 1949, in New York City. He grew up in Los Angeles, and earned a BA and PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California.

While a student, he worked as an editorial cartoonist, columnist, editor and freelance musician. After graduating, he worked as a clinical psychologist and went on to write articles, short stores, essays, three volumes of psychology (including Savage Spawn: Reflections on Violent Children), children's books, and fiction novels. He is no longer a practicing psychotherapist, but is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Psychology at the School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.

Although he is probably best known as a fiction author, his first published book was non-fiction. Aspects of Childhood Cancer was published in 1980, and a year later a follow-up for parents called Helping the Fearful Child was published. In 1985, his first fiction novel (When the Bough Breaks) was published and became a huge success.

Jonathan and his wife, Faye, have four children and live in Los Angeles.
