Joan Hall Hovey

Joan Hall Hovey was born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick. When she was 18, she married her husband (Mel) and went on to have four children (3 within 4 years!). The family later moved to Gondola Point.

While she has been writing for many years, she did have her share of 'jobs', including waitress, secretary, strawberry huller (she who hulls strawberries) and even an egg grader (she who grades eggs).

Her first story sold to True Confessions, more than 20 years ago. The second story sold to Home Life magazine. In 1991, her first novel was published. Since then Joan's work has been included in various magazines and newspapers, including The Reader, Atlantic Advocate, The Toronto Star, Mystery Scene, True Confessions and Home Life magazine.

Joan keeps busy writing, teaching (writing), and acting in a number of community theater plays. She is a member of Mystery Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime, The New Brunswick Writers Federation, Authors Guild, and was once the regional Vice President of Crime Writers of Canada.
