Steve Hamilton

Bio

Steve Hamilton

Steve Hamilton was born and raised in Detroit. He graduated from the University of Michigan, and got a full-time job (which he still has) with IBM.

His interest in writing began when he was quite young. At the age of 12, he submitted a story to Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. It wasn't accepted, but 28 years later the magazine bought a story of his. His first novel, A Cold Day in Paradise won the Private Eye Writers of America/St. Martin's Press Award for Best First Mystery by an Unpublished Writer. Once published, it won the 1999 Edgar and Shamus Awards for Best First Novel, and was short-listed for the Anthony and Barry Awards.

Steve lives in upstate New York with his wife Julia and their two children (Nicholas and Antonia).
