Laurence Gough

Laurence Gough was born in 1943 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. He attended high school (four of them) in North Vancouver, and spent some time studying at Simon Fraser University.

He has worked at various jobs, including garbage man, road construction worker, labourer, book clerk and, of course, writer. Laurence now lives in Vancouver with his wife (a lawyer) and two sons. In addition to writing novels, he reviews crime fiction for the Vancouver Sun.

Laurence's books have been published in many languages, in sixteen countries. In 1988, his novel The Goldfish Bowl won the Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Crime Novel. Two years later, Hot Shots was awarded the Arthur Ellis Award for Best Crime Novel. Laurence was also awarded a New York Drama Critics Circle Award for one of his plays, and an Author Award (fiction) from the Foundation for the Advancement of Canadian Letters for his International thriller Sandstorm.
