Leslie Glass

Bio

Leslie Glass

Leslie Glass grew up in the Bronx, Martha's Vineyard and New York City. Her writing career began when she was only 10 years old! Her father, who was an independent producer of tv series, offered her $100 to come up with a pilot for a new show. Leslie wrote a script (about a teenage troublemaker saved from prison by a rancher who challenged him to tame a wild horse) which became 'Fury', a tv show which ran for three years.

She continued to write, and in 1976 Doubleday published her first novel, Getting Away With It. She has written a number of books, plays, articles and short stories. She wrote and edited a column ("Intelligencer") for New York Magazine. Her work (fiction, short stories and features) has also been published in Cosmopolitan, Redbook and Women's Own. In addition to writing, Leslie has also acted as a consultant to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

When not writing or doing research, Leslie devotes quite a bit of time to social causes. She is a member on the Middle States Commission of Higher Education and a trustee of both the Forty-Five Foundation and the New York Police Foundation. She also serves on the Crime Stoppers Award Committee.

Leslie founded the Leslie Glass Foundation, which grants research fellowships in the fields of mental health and criminal justice. She is also founder and President of the Glass Institute for Basic Psychoanalytic Research. This Institute is involved in enriching the mental health field through research on the effectiveness of various therapies and other work.

She has a daughter and son, and divides her time between in New York and Sarasota.
