David Ellis

David Ellis graduated from Northwestern School of Law, and went on to become a partner in a Chicago law firm specializing in commercial litigation and governmental law. He recently held the position of Deputy Counsel to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. He served as counsel for the bipartisan House death penalty task force, a legislative committee that broke ground for the governor's commission on the death penalty.

He writes what he knows: legal thrillers. Line of Vision won the 2002 Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel by an American Author.

He currently lives on the north side of Chicago, and is at work on his next legal thriller.
