Bio

Stephen Booth

Stephen Booth was born in Burnley, UK. He grew up in Blackpool, and started his writing at the young age of 12 by editing a school magazine and working on a novel. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Birmingham Polytechnic (now known as the University of Central England).

He was a teacher for a short while, and worked as a newspaper and magazine journalist for over 25 years. While living in Yorkshire, he got involved with goat breeding, and even judged at goat shows all over Britain. He published his first novel, Black Dog, in 2000. It went on to win the Barry Award for Best British Crime Novel and was shortlisted for an Anthony Award for Best First Mystery Novel.

In addition to writing and goats, his interests include walking, photography, the Internet and local history. He now writes full-time, and lives with his wife Lesley (and their 3 goats and 3 cats) in Nottinghamshire.


Bibliography

The books are set in the beautiful and atmospheric Derbyshire Peak District and feature two young police detectives, DC Ben Cooper and DS Diane Fry.
